Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Died 20 March 1862

Private Woods was discharged early in the war because of disability.

Sometime before 1891 a military headstone was made for Private Woods stating that it was to be in a cemetery in Clay City or Lewis Indiana. These two towns are 5 miles apart and numerus cemeteries are between these locations.
