Joseph A. Summers
Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861
It is assumed that Private Summers mustered out of the 19th Indiana before the war ended. He shows up in the 1863 draft census as a soldier in the 19th Indiana from Randolph County Indiana.
A man named Joseph A. Summers enlisted in Company B of the 10th U.S. Infantry on February 23rd, 1864 and was killed at the Battle of Cold Harbor Virginia on June 6th, 1864. The following year his widow Nancy filed for a widows pension and it was granted.
It is possible that this the same Joseph A. Summers that served in the 19th Indiana.
