Francis M. Sams

Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Private Sams was reported to have been discharged for disability at Indianapolis Indiana on August 25th, 1863. On October 20th, 1864 a Francis M. Sams enlisted in Company C of the 142nd Indiana Infantry as a Corporal and served there until his muster out on July 14th, 1865.

Francis M. Sams of the 142nd Indiana Infantry is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery located in Noble County Indiana. He died on November 11th, 1865.

Francis M. Sams of the 19th Indiana was from Noble County so it is likely that this is the same man.
