Sergeant Richardson was captured at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863 and taken to the Libby Prison in Richmond Virginia. He was moved to Macon Georgia then to Columbia South Carolina where he was paroled in December of 1864.
He filed for a pension in February of 1886.
