Corporal Reynolds was admitted to the hospital with a case of remittent fever soon after arriving in Washington D.C. in the late summer of 1861. He was soon discharged because of disability.

He would then join Navy as a seaman on the Clara Dolsen.

He filed for a pension in December of 1889.
