Hospital Steward Potts was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant of Company C and served in that capacity until November of 1864 when he left to serve in the U.S. Volunteers Commissary Department as a Captain. He mustered out on June 13th, 1865.

Jesse filed for a pension in June of 1890.
