1st Sergeant Patrick was promoted to Captain before resigning on March 14th, 1863. He then joined Company K of the 137th Indiana Infantry as a 1st Lieutenant serving there until the regiment mustered out 100 days later.

He filed for a pension in January of 1865 but passed away before it was approved.
