Private Oliver was captured at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863 and sent to Belle Isle in Richmond Virginia. In the spring of 1864 he was sent to the Andersonville prison in Georgia where he died of chronic diarrhea.
He left behind a wife Hannah and a 3 year old son named John.
Hanna never remarried and died March 1st, 1915.
