John F. Nixon

Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Private Nixon came down with a serious case of remittent fever soon after arriving in Washington D.C. with the regiment in the fall of 1861. He would soon be discharged for disability.

On January 12th, 1864 he joined Company I of the 12th Indiana Cavalry as a Private and served there until his muster out on November 10th, 1865.

He filed for a pension in 1879.
