Samuel McCown

Killed in action. Unknown burial location.

Sergeant McCown was hit by a piece of shell that went into his chest at the Battle of Brawner Farm on August 28th, 1862. When the battle was over in the late afternoon Sam and other severely wounded and dead soldiers were left on the field as the army pulled back. His body was never identified and his final resting place is unknown.
