At some point in time Henry Knight went to the ranks of the regiment as a private in the infantry. When the 19th Indiana was folded into the ranks of the 20th Indiana in the fall of 1864 he was put into Company A of that regiment. He served there until his muster out on July 12th, 1865.

He filed for a pension in 1881.
