Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Died  01 July 1863

Buried Gettysburg National Cemetery, Adams County Pennsylvania

Private Jones quickly rose in the ranks to corporal, sergeant and finally to 2nd lieutenant when he was killed in action at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863.
