John W. Jack

Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Died 14 December 1891

Buried Evergreen Cemetery, Lake County Colorado

Private Jack was promoted to 1st Sergeant on December 4th, 1861 and on April 7th, 1862 he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. He was wounded in the thigh and calf at the Battle of Brawner Farm on August 28th, 1862. While he was in the hospital recovering from his wounds he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant but would resign his commission on December 11th, 1863 because of his wounds.

 

John W. Jack would later serve in the 9th Indiana Cavalry obtaining the rank of Captain.

 

He filed for a pension in December of 1875 but it was never granted.
