John Holbert

Mustered into service as a Private on February 20, 1864

Died 28 July 1883

Buried White Cemetery, Delaware County Indiana

Private Holbert was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 5th, 1864 and again on March 25th, 1865 during the Appomattox Campaign. In the last fight he was shot in the left leg and it soon had to be amputated.

Prior to the Civil War he served in the First Ohio Volunteers in the Mexican War in 1847. 

He filed for a pension in September of 1865.
