Edward W. Gorgas

Mustered into service as a Sergeant on July 29th, 1861

Died  21 October 1915

Sergeant Gorgas suffered from a severe case of fever soon after arriving in Washington D.C. in the fall of 1861. It was so bad that it caused him to go insane so he was discharged for disability October 29th, 1861. Family members and friends were unable to care for the insane man so he was admitted to Friends Asylum in Frankford Pennsylvania. He would spend the rest of his life there until his death in 1915.

Burial location unknown. Probably in a nearby cemetery in Frankford.
