Private Dickover was captured for a short time at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863. He was paroled later that summer and returned to the regiment. He was transferred to Company E of the 20th Indiana Infantry in the fall of 1864 and remained there until his muster out on July 12th, 1865.

He filed for a pension in June of 1880.
