Davis E. Castle

Mustered into service as a 1st Lieutenant on July 29th, 1861

1st Lieutenant Castle became sick early in the war with a bad case of fever. He was transferred to the Signal Corps in January of 1862. He would serve there for most of the war that included the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and the Wilderness. During the war he was hurt severely when a horse fell on him and he was also accidentally shot by another Union officer.

 

Davis filed for a pension in 1879.
