Benjamin F. Worth enlisted in the Army 9 days after Ft. Sumter was fired on in the spring of 1861. He became a Private in Company D of the 7th Indiana Infantry. Benjamin left that regiment and served in the 19th Indiana from July of 1861 to the late summer of 1862 when he mustered out. On April 21st, 1863 he again enlisted in the Army as a Private in Company H of the 11th Indiana Infantry. Benjamin  served in that regiment unil the end of the war mustering out on July 26th, 1865 while in Baltimore Maryland.

He filed for a pension in 1890 and was a member of the Virgil H. Lyons GAR  post in Plainfield Indiana
