Private Trent was on of the many soldiers from the 19th Indiana that would die from disease soon after they arrived in Washington D.C. at the start of the war. George joined the 19th with his older brother Lysander who would survive the war.

In October of 1863 his widowed mother Susanna filed for a "Mothers" pension.
