Private Snyder came down with a bad case of laryngitis soon after arriving in Washington D.C. in the late summer of 1861. He would be discharged for disability soon after.

 

On September 29th, 1862 he joined Company K of the 120th Ohio Infantry were he served until his muster out at Camp Chase Ohio on July 7th, 1865. During his time with the 120th he was captured on May 3rd, 1864 near Shaggy Point, on Red River, Louisiana.

 

He filed for a pension in January of 1880.
