Isaiah S. Pruitt

Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Buried Marion National Cemetery Cemetery, Grant County Indiana

Private Pruitt transferred to Company E of the 20th Indiana Infantry in the fall of 1864 and would be mustered out of the service in 1865.

 

He filed for a pension in June of 1867.

 

In a newspaper article in April of 1915 Isaiah reported that he was a ticket seller in the spring of 1865 at the Oxford Theater located near the Fords Theater in Washington D.C. On the night Lincoln was assassinated Isaiah was in the theater and witnessed the shooting of the President and escape of John Wilkes Booth.
