Preston Nelson

Mustered into service as a Private on February 19th, 1862

Private Nelson was slightly wounded at the Battle of Brawner Farm on August 28th, 1862. During the Battle of Fredericksburg Virginia he was captured and sent to prison. He was exchanged on May 18th, 1863 and immediately sent to a hospital in New York where he would remain until the spring of 1864. He came back to the regiment and transferred to Company I of the 20th Indiana Infantry in the late fall of 1864. He remained there until his muster out on February 19th, 1865.

 

He filed for a pension in June of 1865.
