Private Murry was wounded in the left ankle at the Battle of Brawner Farm on August 28th, 1862. He was dicharged from the service holding the rank of Sergeant on March 3rd, 1863 because of this wound.

William worked for many years after the war in Washington D.C. at the Pension Office.
