Leroy Magee
At the age of 14 Leroy Magee tried to join the City Greys but was rejected because he was too young. He served as a servant to Lieutenant Davis Castle and went to Washington D.C. with the regiment. Leroy soon returned home and was able to muster into service with Company A, 63rd Indiana where he served for 8 months. He then served 10 months in the 18th United States Infantry until he was discharged for disability in 1864. Young Leroy Magee died a few days after returning home of consumption and is buried
at the Olive Branch Cemetery, Wayne Co. Indiana.
