Private Lamb first served in Company B of the 8th Indiana Infantry before joining the 19th Indiana. On May the 23rd, 1864 he was wounded during the fighting around North Anna Virginia. In the fall of 1864 he transferred to the 20th Indiana Infantry with the other surviving members of the 19th.
He filed for and started to receive a pension in 1877.
