Private Jones was shot in the leg at the Battle of Antietam on September 17th, 1862. The leg was amputated a few days later but he would soon die from this wound.
Joshua left behind a wife Celia and a 16 month old son George E.
Celia filed for a "Widows" pension a little over a month after the death of her husband.
