John C. Hiatt
Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861
Buried Broadway Cemetery, Los Angeles Co. California
Private Hiatt was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 1863 and again on June 23rd, 1864 during the siege of Petersburg Virginia.
John is buried in a unmarked grave along with hundreds of other people. In 1959 the city of Whittier decided to make a park out of the cemetery so they asked relatives to remove their loved ones to another location. People who were not removed stayed in the cemetery and were covered up with fill dirt. John Hiatt is one of these forgotten relatives and is in a unmarked grave.
