David V. Garringer

Private Garringer was slightly wounded on May 10th, 1864 in the fighting around Laurel Hill Virginia. In the fall of 1864 the ranks of the 19th Indiana were so depleted from combat casualties and sickness they were folded into the 20th Indiana Infantry. David was put into Company A of that regiment and held the rank of Sergeant when he mustered out on July 12th, 1865.

 

He filed for a pension in 1883.
