Private Faulkner was promoted to Sergeant by the spring of 1864 when he was wounded during the fighting around Laurel Hill Virginia on May 9th. He transferred to Company A of the 20th Indiana in the fall of 1864 where he served until the end of the war.

He filed for a pension in August of 1879.
