Asbury C. Evans

Mustered into service as a Private on July 29th, 1861

Private Evans was soon admitted to the hospital after arriving in Washington D.C. in the late summer of 1861. He was diagnosed with a case of "scrofula" which is a type of tuberculosis. He was discharged for disability on October 5th, 1861. He then joined Company F of the 57th Indiana Infantry on December 18th, 1861. He was discharged from that regiment on April 25th, 1862. When the 1863 draft census was taken he was listed as having a crippled arm.

By October of 1894 his wife Elizabeth filed for a widows pension indicating that Asbury died sometime before that date.
