Buried Indianapolis, Marion Co. Indiana
James S. Drum was promoted to Captain in the summer of 1862
holding the position of Acting Commissary of Subsistence in Nicholasville Kentucky where he died of inflamation of the stomach and bowels. His body was returned to Indianapolis where he was buried.
His obituary does not state where he was buried but at that time the
City Cemetery or Greenlawn Cemetery was often used. This cemetery was abandoned by the 1890's and many of the graves were moved
to other cemeteries. The graves that remained were forgotten and never removed. By the mid 1920's industry had taken over and factories were built over the old cemetery. It is very likely that the grave of James S. Drum was never taken to another cemetery and his grave is now totally lost.
