Private Classmeyer was reported as missing in action at the Battle of Brawner Farm on August 28th, 1862 but would soon return to the regiment. In the fall of 1864 he transferred to Company E of the 20th Indiana Infantry where he served until his muster out on July 12th, 1865.
He filed for a pension in December of 1865.
The spelling of his name is also shown as "Clasmier" in other records.
